Grammy-nominated Canadian pop star Carly Rae Jepsen has teamed up with Disney to record an all-new rendition of the classic Disney ballad “Part Of Your World” for the upcoming Diamond Edition release of The Little Mermaid.
Carly Rae Jepsen took the world of pop music by storm in 2012 with her smash hit single “Call Me Maybe”, which was #1 on the Billboard hot 100 for nine consecutive weeks. She has over 600 million YouTube video views, and has been nominated for two Grammys.
The iconic Disney song from The Little Mermaid, “Part of Your World” was written by Howard Ashman and Alan Menken was was originally recorded for the movie by Jodi Benson. The song is considered a classic, and a Disney anthem of sorts, being one of the pivotal moments in the film.
Carly’s version of the beloved song will be included as a music video on the upcoming Blu-ray release. No word yet on whether her version will be released on the Diamond Edition re-release of the soundtrack.
Apart from Jodi Benson, no fewer than a dozen singers have covered this song, with names such as Jessica Simpson, Miley Cyrus, Olivia Newton-John and even Lady Gaga on the list.
