Since the debut of Wreck-It Ralph in 2012, fans have clamored for the opportunity to step inside of the film’s world in the Disney theme parks, and now they’ll get their chance. Opening this fall is Ralph Breaks VR: A Hyper-Reality Experience at Disney Springs in Walt Disney World in Florida. The project was announced on the Disney Parks Blog.
The attraction promises to be an all-new adventure starring characters from the beloved Walt Disney Animation Studios film and its sequel, Ralph Breaks the Internet, in theaters November 21st. The VR experience was created by Disney Animation, LucasFilm’s ILMxLAB, and The VOID, a leading developer of immersive VR adventures.
The promotional image for the attraction (above) includes Ralph, Vanellope, and what appear to be two creatures from the pancake mini-game that Ralph finds himself playing in the sequel’s trailer.
Ralph Breaks VR will operate in addition to, not in replacement of, The VOID’s first Disney attraction, Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire. While the Star Wars experience exists at Disney resorts in both Florida and California, for now it appears that Ralph will only debut in Florida.
Ticketing and pricing remains unavailable for the time being, though Secrets of the Empire costs $32.95, and guests must be at least 10 years old.
Though never confirmed by Disney, rumors persisted for some time that a VR-based Wreck-It Ralph racing attraction would open inside the current venue for Stitch’s Great Escape! at Magic Kingdom. If that was ever really on the table, it seems unlikely that it would coexist with this new experience. Meanwhile, Stitch’s Great Escape! remains closed but allegedly untouched. A specific opening date has not been announced, though expect it around the time of the film’s debut.
