With Frozen taking the world by storm, we haven’t heard much news about Disney’s next animated film Big Hero 6. But a photo appeared online, which features our first look at the robot Baymax!

The photo is of a from the Big Hero 6 crew t-shirt and features the robot character himself. The photo was posted back in December on the Disney Animator’s Facebook page, which is the unofficial page for the Walt Disney Animation Studios Animation Department. According to Stephane Kardos, who is an art director at Disney, he designed this shirt for the Big Hero 6 crew.

Baymax is the fighting robot that Hiro Hamada creates to help fight crime and save his city of San Fransokyo. We haven’t been given much info about what the film’s look and ultimate design except for a few background stills and a short clip of San Fransokyo at night. Originally I thought Baymax had simple dots for eyes and a big goofy white grin. But turns out, that his eyes are in the white part. His head is tlited down and those black dots are the pointy parts of his helmet/head.

At the D23 Expo, there was a Disney animation preview that gave audience members a glimpse of what to expect for Big Hero 6, although no stills of the characters were released. On the expo floor, just the silhouettes of the main characters–Hiro Hamada, Baymax, Wasabi No Ginger, Honey Lemon, Go-Go Tomago and Fred–were seen. I can’t wait until Disney finally lets us see the whole picture of the Big Hero 6 crime-fighting gang!

It’s unlikely that we’ll get any more info or photos about this film until summer. We didn’t get trailers for Frozen or Wreck-It Ralph until summer, so it appears that is Walt Disney Animation Studios’ preferred marketing schedule. Although we could be surprised. I wouldn’t complain if Disney broke the mold and gave us a bit more a little earlier than usual.

Bleeding Cool got some info about the film’s plot and characters and collaborated with us to shoot a video about it. So if you want to learn more about Big Hero 6 and the characters, then definitely check that video out below.

How do you like Baymax’s design? Is it what you expected?
