Aladdin-Live-Action-Poster

Aren’t you proud of us for not making the headline anything including the words “whole new world”?

Today Disney unveiled the most significant sneak peek yet into the upcoming live-action adaptation of Aladdin.

A new poster, above, shows much of the principal cast as well as several of the iconic moments from the classic story, first imagined by Walt Disney Animation Studios in 1992.

The remake hits theaters May 24. Guy Ritchie directs with Will Smith as the Genie, Mena Massoud as Aladdin, Naomi Scott as Jasmine, Marwan Kenzari as Jafar, and Navid Negahban as the Sultan. New characters not featured in the animated original include Nasim Pedrad as Dalia and Billy Magnussen as Prince Anders, both of which we don’t know much about just yet.

The film will include the famous songs that audiences know and love, as well as new tunes written by the original’s composer Alan Menken, as well as newcomer lyricists Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, of The Greatest Showman and Dear Evan Hansen.

And we get our first peek of how some of those songs will sound in the first full trailer for the film, also unveiled today. Take a look!

“Do you trust me?” There’s a lot to take in here. Like, a lot. If you’re like us, you’ll want to replay that sucker over and over and examine everything.

Also of note, The Hollywood Reporter shares that Iago will be voiced by Disney veteran Alan Tudyk, whose credits with Mickey include an appearance in every Walt Disney Animation Studios film since 2012’s Wreck-It Ralph, voicing the like of King Candy and the Duke of Weaselton. Tudyk also played K-2SO for Disney in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

What are your thoughts on this new trailer? The characters, the sets, the songs… it’s a lot to talk about! Sound off in the comments.
