Disney has released the newest trailer for their summer extravaganza Maleficent, and we have to admit, this new trailer has us sold.
Angelina Jolie is positively amazing as the titular “mistress of evil”, and we have to admit, it looks like a brilliant casting decision. The new trailer does repeat a lot of what we have seen previously, but expands upon the relationship between Maleficent and Princess Aurora (played by Elle Fanning). In a chilling new twist, Maleficent reveals, “I had wings once…but they were stolen from me”. This is followed by breathtaking shots of Maleficent soaring through the air. This looks like a potentially great plot point and it will be interesting to see how it pans out.

Also of note is the new poster released alongside the trailer. It features Maleficent with her wings spread out, giving the camera her usual heartless stare.
Inspired by Walt Disney’s animated classic Sleeping Beauty, Maleficent tells the story of Disney’s most iconic villain and the events that led her to become the mistress of all evil. The film releases on May 30.
