Disney Releases New Song "Monster" from 'Frozen: The Broadway Musical'

In a new music video posted to the Disney Music YouTube channel, Disney officially released the first new song from Frozen: The Broadway Musical, which opens later this spring.

The new song is titled “Monster” and is performed by Caissie Levy as Elsa, at the pivotal moment when her icy powers spiral out of control. It’s also a somewhat dark new look into the character of Elsa, as she actually contemplates death and wonders if the only way to bring back the sun would be for her to die. It’s definitely a neat look not just into the characterization of one of Disney’s most popular characters, but also offers a promising first impression of the new musical.

Based on the iconic Disney animated film, Frozen: The Broadway Musical features new songs by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez with a book by Jennifer Lee. Its original Broadway cast will include Caissie Levy as Elsa, Patti Murin as Anna, Jelani Alladin as Kristoff, Greg Hildreth as Olaf, and John Riddle as Prince Hans. It is slated to open in March at the St. James Theatre.
