Disney has given us a new glimpse of this year’s upcoming ‘Wreck-It Ralph’ sequel, and by the looks of it, the internet may be too much for Ralph to handle.
The colourful concept artwork features Ralph looking positively overwhelmed as he attempts to make sense of the internet, while Vanellope appears excited to meet the Disney Princesses explore the wonders of the world wide web. Either way, these two are a long way off from Litwak’s Arcade.
Disney also released a new official synopsis for the film:
“Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2” leaves Litwak’s video arcade behind, venturing into the uncharted, expansive and thrilling world of the internet – which may or may not survive Ralph’s wrecking. Video game bad Ralph (voice of John C. Reilly) and fellow misfit Vanellope von Schweetz (voice of Sarah Silverman) must risk it all by traveling to the world wide web in search of a replacement part to save Vanellope’s video game, Sugar Rush. In way over their heads, Ralph and Vanellope rely on the citizens of the internet – the netizens – to help navigate their way, including a website entrepreneur named Yesss (voice of Taraji P. Henson), who is the head algorithm and the heart and soul of trend-making website “Buzztube.”
While the original Wreck-It Ralph was a love letter to old-school arcade video games, the sequel seems to be an all-out celebration of the world of the internet, memes included. Insiders have already confirmed the inclusion of all the Disney Princesses (voiced by all the surviving voice actresses), Star Wars characters including R2-D2 and C-3PO, and even Princess Leia, along with a host of cameos from Marvel characters like Iron Man and Gamora. Hopefully we’ll also meet Mario this time around. Directed by Rich Moore and Phil Johnston, Ralph Breaks The Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2 crashes into theatres on November 21, 2018.
