‘DuckTales’ Reboot Voice Cast Announced!

'DuckTales' Reboot Voice Cast Announced!

I know I was already excited for Disney XD’s reboot of the classic Disney Afternoon cartoon, DuckTales, but – oh my word you guys – wait until you see who’s playing the characters! This morning Disney XD released a video to its YouTube channel featuring the new cast singing the theme song, and I’m just going to let you watch it before I go on. (Wait until you see who’s playing Uncle Scrooge!)

I know, right!? Never in my wildest dreams would I have even thought to guess that the 10th Doctor himself would be a part of this project! I was already looking forward to this show, but it’s just rocketed up to my most anticipated new animated show of 2017, and second most anticipated show after Netflix’s A Series of Unfortunate Events.

In addition to the incomparable David Tennant as Uncle Scrooge, rounding out the cast of ducks are Toks Olagundoye as Mrs. Beakley, Beck Bennett as Launchpad McQuack, Kate Micucci as Webby VanderQuack, and Danny Pudi, Ben Schwartz, and Bobby Moynihan as Huey, Dewey, and Louie. The casting of three different actors for the trio of nephews is a pretty great step up from the original cartoon, in which they were all voiced by the same voice actress and were, for all intents and purposes, sort of interchangeable. Hopefully they’ll be given distinct personalities to go with their distinct actors.

These voices are all huge names in comedy, and I am just stoked about everyone! Kate Micucci has just the perfect voice for this, plus she’s hilarious, and Ben Schwartz has been one of my favorite people since his days as Jean-Ralphio on Parks and Recreation. Plus, as a fan of Doctor Who, I am beyond excited to see David Tennant as the one and only Scrooge McDuck!

No word on any voices for supporting characters or Donald Duck as of yet, but I am expecting that Tony Anselmo, the current voice of Donald Duck in everything else, as well as the voice of Donald in the original DuckTales, will be taking up the role. Other favorite characters expected to make an appearance include Scrooge’s butler Duckworth, Donald’s cousin Gladstone Gander, inventor Gyro Gearloose, superhero Gizmoduck, and villains Flintheart Glomgold, Magica DeSpell, and Ma Beagle and the Beagle Boys.

Last week Disney XD also released a very brief teaser for DuckTales, and while it isn’t quite as exciting as this news, it’s still worth a look.

What do you guys think of this cast? Are you as excited as I am? Let us know in the comments below!
