The Walt Disney Records Legacy Collection has been met with high praise since it was announced. The music is wonderful, the new cover art by Lorelay Bove is whimsical and inspiring, and the bonus content is top notch.
Disney just released a new video about The Lion King Legacy Collection (which was released in June), which features a round table discussion with the the film’s filmmakers: the composer Hans Zimmer, music producer Mark Mancina, directors Roger Allers and Rob Minkoff, producer Don Hahn, and Chris Montan from Disney Music.
In this six-and-a-half minute clip, this group tells some behind-the-scenes stories from the making of The Lion King, while focusing on the importance of the music. We learn about how “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” was almost cut, how the film initially came together, favorite production memories and discuss the moment they all know that The Lion King was a phenomenon. It’s a fantastic featurette, so I hope we get one of these for each of the upcoming Legacy Collection releases in the future.
The Lion King Legacy Collection is available to purchase now. Check out our video review of the soundtrack and buy it on Amazon to support the site.
