In a show all about fairy tale twists, Once Upon a Time is about to shake up Frozen.
Elizabeth Mitchell will play a currently unnamed villain in the Frozen storyline of season four, premiering this fall on ABC, Entertainment Weekly reports. Right out of the gate, just as with every story it portrays, Once will toy with what we think we know about the world of Frozen and its characters.
Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff were all cast last week, so that (in theory) rules out the possibility of Elsa being evil if Mitchell is to play the primary baddie (in the same way the Wicked Witch was to season three). Could Mitchell’s character be the true “Snow Queen” villainess that animators initially intended Elsa to be for Frozen? We’ll see.
Mitchell is known for her television roles, including LOST (which shares writers with Once). Disney fans may recognize her as Mrs. Claus/Principal Newman in The Santa Clause films.
