While we have all been waiting to hear more from Brad Bird on Tomorrowland, and The Incredibles 2, Brad Bird has been in talks with Warner Bros. about finally releasing his first directorial work, The Iron Giant on Blu-ray. Unfortunately, it seems that while there is a definite maybe from WB, it’s not the kind of definite maybe Brad Bird wants.
The problem is that though the film has garnered a strong and passionate fandom, the initial success of the film was not as flattering earning only $23 million with an original budget of $70 million…
However, WB does want to put it on Blu-ray, just not with all the nuts and bolts like the fandom and Brad Bird himself wants:
“@SeriousBug: Any idea when we’ll see The Iron Giant on Blu-ray?” WB & I have been talking. But they want a bare bones disc. I want better.

“@TheTrekNerd: Us consumers want better too. It’s a classic, not fodder for the $1.99 bin at the grocery store.” Let them know; @WBHomeEnt — Brad Bird (@BradBirdA113) April 23, 2014
YOU HEAR THAT PEOPLE??? Tweet @WBHomeEnt and say “The fans want a fully loaded collector’s edition of “The Iron Giant”!
Hopefully, if enough people catch WB’s attention, we can have what we want, and what the film deserves.
