Disneytoon studios planes fire and rescue trailer still

Today Yahoo! Movies released an all-new trailer to DisneyToon Studios new film Planes: Fire and Rescue. It is similar to the first trailer, but there are some new scenes, characters and moments.

The first half of the trailer shows the danger and seriousness of the fire-and-rescue squad. It’s definitely not all fun in games like in the first Planes film. We do get introduced to our hero, Dusty Crophopper, and that’s where the mood lightens up a bit. I really like the tone and subject manner of this Planes film compared to the race theme of the first film. To me, Planes: Fire and Rescue seems like it will be a lot more interesting because of this new setting. This is more of what I was expecting and I’m happy to see DisneyToon Studios get it right. Also, it looks like the cast will be almost entirely new besides Dane Cook as Dusty.

Check out the plot synopsis:

Planes: Fire & Rescue is a new comedy-adventure about second chances, featuring a dynamic crew of elite firefighting aircraft devoted to protecting historic Piston Peak National Park from raging wildfires. When world famous air racer Dusty (voice of Dane Cook) learns that his engine is damaged and he may never race again, he must shift gears and is launched into the world of aerial firefighting. Dusty joins forces with veteran fire and rescue helicopter Blade Ranger and his courageous team, including spirited super scooper Dipper (voice of Julie Bowen), heavy-lift helicopter Windlifter, ex-miltary transport Cabbie and a lively bunch of brave all-terrain vehicles known as The Smokejumpers. Together the fearless team battles a massive wildfire and Dusty learns what it takes to become a true hero.

Planes: Fire and Rescue hits theatres in the heat of summer on July 18, 2014.

Are you excited to ‘Planes 2’? What was your favorite part of the new trailer?
