Details have begun to surface about Disney’s December 2014 feature film release. After hours of backtracking the very first articles that started to pop up about the film, turns out it is not an animated film. However, it does seem like it will be CGI heavy, and concept heavy, not to mention it’s riddled with Disney lore, which is always awesome.
Tomorrowland, which is being directed by Brad Bird (The Incredibles, Ratatouille) and scripted by Damon Lindelof (Cowboys & Aliens, Prometheus), was originally titled 1952 and was much speculated to be about an alien encounter on that year in Washington DC. As it turns out, the title actually came from a box that is working as inspiration and research for the script.
Though there is more than enough to be left for speculation, this is the logline as we know it now:
A teenage girl, a genius middle-aged man (who was kicked out of Tomorrowland) and a pre-pubescent girl robot attempt to get to and unravel what happened to Tomorrowland, which exists in an alternative dimension, in order to save Earth.
It has also been speculated that the major themes of the film will involve technical accomplishment versus creative thinking. Almost gives the sense of a throwback to the importance Walt Disney placed on imagineering.
George Clooney and Hugh Laurie are signed onto the project which is slated to be released in theaters December 19th, 2014.
