iron-giant-signature-edition-new-posterWarner Bros Entertainment used the week of San Diego Comic-Con to announce that the celebrated and award-winning Brad Bird animated film, The Iron Giant, will return to select theaters this fall.

The Iron Giant: Signature Edition will feature enhanced and remastered visuals, as well as two brand new scenes. Fathom Events will offer these big screen events on Wednesday, September 30 at 7:00PM local time, with an encore showing on October 4 at 12:00PM local time.

Brad Bird’s Iron Giant (screenplay written by Tim McCanlies and based on the Ted Hughes book The Iron Man) was first released in summer 1999 and introduced audiences to the beloved characters of Hogarth (Eli Marienthal) and the Iron Giant himself (Vin Diesel). The film gave audiences the opportunity to follow their journey of friendship and discovery as they navigate through the turbulent American 1950s. However, due to a lack of marketing by Warner Bros, the film never was able to be fully backed and have a proper release, which caused the studio to name it failure. Since then, the film has become a cult classic and is beloved by film and animation fans alike.

This Signature Edition will also be come to digital retail in the Fall. This will allow any of those who miss the smaller theater release a chance to enjoy the new additions. For those who want to re-experience this classic film, or those who will watch it for the first time, there is no better way to see it than on the big screen.

A new poster (below) was also released for the event. The Iron Giant: Signature Edition will hit theaters September 20, 2015.

What do you think about The Iron Giant: Signature Edition? Will you see it in theaters?
