Hello, I am Baymax. And the trailer for Big Hero 6 is finally here in all its glory. So drop…everything!
The trailer opens at 4:35 pm in San Fransokyo, and Hiro Hamada and his robot pal Baymax are apparently at the police department reporting a pretty serious crime. Too bad the officer doesn’t really believe them. It’s an interesting look into our main protagonist–Hiro’s–personality. Check the full trailer out below!
It’s a fun trailer and really sets up the premise of the movie: a masked man who has done something terrible and Hiro has to step up to do something about it because no one else will help. The action scenes look awesome and the humor very modern and fresh. Baymax is turning out to be this year’s Olaf, as his quirky straightforward humor is perfect. Take for example his line, “I am not fast” while trying to escape the terror of the kabuki maniac or trying to fix himself with Scotch tape.
From the very beginning, we get a glimpse of the villain–Yokai– who will clearly be a driver in the film. His design is simple, yet frightening. Plus his ability to control an army of microbots using a neural cranial transmitter is definitely going to make Hiro step up his robotics game in order to defeat him.
Again, this trailer, like most of the other marketing materials, focuses on the relationship between Hiro and Baymax. Hiro is actually a lot more mature than we expected and the way he interacts with Baymax is simply adorable. Hiro’s voice, while some have said it seems a bit old for the character, seems perfect to us. It feels very Disney. Sadly, we don’t get to see much of the other four members of Big Hero 6, but we’re certain we’ll see them in the next trailer.
This trailer feels a bit like the first full Frozen trailer that we got. It was great (finally, characters, voices, action!), but was still not 100% satisfying. It wasn’t until the epic Elsa trailer came out when we started to go bananas. No doubt future trailers will showcase the other members of the titular crime-fighting gang, but for now, Disney really wants us to get to know (and love) Hiro and Baymax.
Easter Eggs
Some of our keen-eyed fans noticed a very familiar face in the trailer hidden in the police station. Any guesses who?
Also, another fan on tumblr potentially found another Disney character hidden in the trailer (who has a tie to one of the directors). Can you spot it?
