Mickey Mouse’s 90th birthday weekend has arrived, and D23: The Official Disney Fan Club is hosting a special event, Destination D, at Walt Disney World in Florida.

The event’s programming doesn’t officially kick off until Saturday, November 17, but today D23 invited attendees to preview some of the fun the weekend will bring, including an exclusive exhibit from the Walt Disney Archives, “Mickey’s Magical Kingdoms.” It’s a small but fun peek into the history of Mickey Mouse’s presence in the Disney theme parks throughout the years.

Mickey’s of Glendale, the Walt Disney Imagineering gift shop, has a pop-up shop available at the event, but the wait time (on the PREVIEW day!) was 90 minutes, so… you’re on your own for finding coverage from inside there 😉

We’ll continue to report all the history, happenings, and announcements from Destination D here on Rotocopers into next week. Mickey (and Minnie!) officially celebrate their birthday on Sunday, November 18.
