With the elevating success from franchises like Star Wars and Marvel, it’s no wonder Disney is looking to expand the Indiana Jones movies.
Currently, a fifth Indiana Jones film is in the works directed by, once again, Steven Spielberg and staring Harrison Ford. It has already been established by Spielberg that “Indy” will not be killed off in the latest movie.
Disney CEO, Bob Iger, stated in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that he wants more movies in the franchise, “Well, we’ll bring [Harrison Ford] back, then we have to figure out what comes next. That’s what I mean. It’s not really a reboot, it’s a boot—a reboot. I don’t know.”
Though rather a vague statement, Iger does seem convinced that there will be more movies, “I see making more. It won’t be just a one-off.”
This news is no surprise as the Indiana Jones franchise has already branched out into a television series (1992-1993), comics, novels, and video games. Walt Disney Studios announced that the fifth film will be released on July 19, 2019.
What do you think of the Indiana Jones franchise? Would you like to see more movies?
