Two-thousand sixteen is the year of the animated musical, with not only Disney’s Moana and Illumination Entertainment’s Sing! coming out, but also DreamWorks’ return to the animated musical with Trolls. Trolls has been in development for quite some time now and the film is finally coming to theaters in the end of this year.

Today, The Hollywood Reporter revealed some new details about the film’s music and we discovered that Justin Timberlake, who is also starring in the film as the character of Branch opposite Anna Kendrick, will be executive producing the film’s music. So, what does this mean for the film? Will Trolls still be a classic Broadway-style musical like most of us expected it to be or will it be overloaded with catchy pop songs similar to DreamWorks’ Home, which came out last year and also starred a pop star as one of the leads?

“I have always envisioned bringing the two worlds of film and music together for one epic event [and] couldn’t be more excited that they will collide in DreamWorks’ Trolls,” Timberlake said to THR. “This film is very special, the music is going to be very special and I can’t wait for everyone to experience it all.”

“Justin is an amazingly versatile artist and producer whose unprecedented creative talents provide a unique voice and sound for our movie,” DreamWorks Animation’s co-presidents of feature animation Bonnie Arnold and Mireille Soria said. “Trolls is a comedy with fantastic music at its core and we can’t think of a more perfect artist to elevate this soundtrack to incredible heights.”

DreamWorks’ Trolls opens in theaters on November 4, 2016.

What do you think of this news? Are you excited for DreamWorks’ Trolls?
