After a successful premiere earlier this summer, it seemed a sequel to Disney Channel’s original movie Descendants was likely to happen. Today, Disney Channel confirmed that Descendants 2 will indeed happen.

In an Instagram post, Disney Channel confirmed sequel rumors, stating that a sequel is officially in the works and will feature all the original cast.

For the unfamiliar, Descendants follows the story of four kids of famous animated Disney Villains (Maleficent, The Evil Queen, Cruella and Jafar) and their journey to redemption in a world of heroes. The film premiered to an impressive 6.6 million viewers and spawned a successful soundtrack and an animated TV series.

The original cast, which featured Dove Cameron as Mal, Sofia Carson as Evie, Cameron Boyce as Carlos, and Booboo Stewart as Jay, will reprise their roles. No release date is confirmed, but a summer 2017 release date seems likely.
