Frozen has officially become the highest grossing Blu-ray ever in the United States. (Now really, who’s surprised at this point?) Selling a whopping 7.46 million units, Frozen has just surpassed the previous record holder, Avatar, who held the spot for four years with 7.38 units sold. However, Avatar has had almost five years to sell its Blu-rays, and yet Frozen managed to break its record in under a year. That’s the power of Disney Animation for you.

In addition to Frozen’s success, it seems that there is even more good news for Disney. As of last year, it’s reported that Finding Nemo is the best-selling DVD of all time with a ridiculous 40 million units sold.
Although the DVD and Blu-ray records are new for Disney, the company isn’t completely new to having smashing sales with the home video sales. In addition to its huge box office success, The Lion King was the best-selling VHS tape ever released with over 30 million units sold. So with the records for VHS, DVD, and Blu-ray under its belt, it can truly be said that Disney is the king of home video.
What do you think of yet another record being set by Frozen? What do you think could dethrone it from the top of the list?
