[SPOILERS ahead!]
The highlight of Once Upon a Time‘s panel at last week’s San Diego Comic-Con? No question: video footage of Frozen‘s Anna and Elsa in action.
- First of all, it’s simply thrilling to see what’s going on with Anna and Elsa after the events of Frozen. The tone of this scene is a bit somber, yes, but let’s not kid ourselves into thinking we weren’t on the edge of our seats wanting to know how their lives are unfolding following the great thaw!
- Why did the audience laugh at the sight of the graves? Is there some context missing from the clip’s introduction? Not sure about that one.
- If we’re being shown the graves, that means the death of Anna and Elsa’s parents will be important to the story. Otherwise, would we really need to be reminded of it? Either their passing will have emotional repercussions on the sisters’ internal arcs, or some rumors guess they may still be alive (particularly the mother, a possible role for Elizabeth Mitchell).
- A WEDDING. Anna and Kristoff are getting married! (Wait, what?) If they tease a plot point that big, we’re likely to get to see the wedding ceremony ourselves.
Other tantalizing details from the panel included news that Henry may soon work for Mr. Gold’s business and that Regina may need assistance from an old friend, Sidney Glass. Also debuted last week is this first official still with Kristoff and Elsa, a relationship we didn’t get to see explored in the film: 
This seems to be, for now, the perfect medium for the story of Frozen to continue. It allows more fun for those who wish to spend more time with these characters, but doesn’t overstep the boundaries or integrity that a full-blown sequel might cross. Season four of Once Upon a Time premieres Sunday, September 28 on ABC. Seasons one and two are now on Netflix streaming, with season three expected to arrive within the next month, if it follows the pattern of its siblings.
