According to a few news sites including Variety, the long-rumored live-action Disney adaptation of Beauty and the Beast has found a director: Bill Condon, to be precise. Bill Condon is known for directing such films as Dreamgirls, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2, The Fifth Estate, and the upcoming film featuring an older Sherlock Holmes played by Ian McKellen, A Slight Trick of the Mind.
This live-action version of Beauty and the Beast currently has no cast or release date and will join Disney’s line-up of live-action adaptations of their animated classics including the upcoming Cinderella, The Jungle Book, and Cruella.
This will also be one of two live-action adaptations of Beauty and the Beast in the making with the other being directed by Guillermo del Toro for Warner Bros.
