It’s been a DreamWorks week in the animation world with some beautiful new Mr. Peabody and Sherman posters and a new How to Train Your Dragon 2 trailer, and last Friday DreamWorks released three new stills for its upcoming animated feature Mr. Peabody and Sherman.
These new stills feature some characters and scenes that we’ve seen very quickly in the trailer. The first still features Leonardo DaVinci and Mona Lisa, the second still features Mr. Peabody and Sherman as they talk about what Sherman did in school and the last still features Sherman and Mr. Peabody inside the Trojan Horse.
I love these stills. The color palette looks great and I also really like the cartoony character designs of the historic characters, I also really love the amount of detail that was put into the character designs. A few weeks ago in school, I studied Leonardo DaVinci and his art and in doing so I found a few portraits of him. I can say, these CGI models looks exactly like the real Leonardo DaVinci! I’m even more excited to read the art book of this movie because I’m really interested in the amount of history research that was done for this movie.
Next up we have some new plot details, though these details were uploaded on CineMovie a while ago. These new plot details are from an early screening of some clips and an interview with Rob Minkoff (Director Lion King) and Ty Burrel (Modern Family).
** SPOILER WARNING The new plot details contain some spoilers. **
”In the clips shown during the sneak peek, we get a glimpse into Sherman’s life, a shy boy who’s also attracted to his classmate Penny. During a friendly classmate visit to the Peabody penthouse, Mr. Peabody advises Sherman not to say a word to Penny about their Wabac machine, but wanting to impress Penny, Sherman spills the beans and confesses all. Unbeknownst to Mr. Peabody, Penny decides to take a joyride in the Wabac and now it’s both Mr. Peabody’s and Sherman’s job to make sure she comes back in one piece. They first arrive in Ancient Egypt where they find Penny already engaged to king Tutankhamun. Once Penny realizes the fate of King Tut and her fate, which is to follow after his death, Peabody and Sherman must help her escape the royal palace. We are then transported to Renaissance Italy where Peabody, Sherman, and Penny meet Leonardo DiVinci in the mist of painting the Mona Lisa. After much exploration in DiVinci’s workshop, Sherman and Penny take his flying machine out for a ride and discover that it works! The next and last scene that we were treated to is taking place while Mr. Peabody and Sherman are caught in an argument. To rebel, Sherman traveled to ancient Greece during the Trojan War. He has joined the Greek forces and is hiding in the body of War Horse which is about to be delivered. Peabody finds Sherman and tries to convince him that this is no place for a boy. Comedy then ensues as the Greek Commander 100 percent sides with his new solder Shermanius.”
