With Disney’s 53rd Animated Feature, Frozen, just around the corner, the Rotoscopers are taking you on a trip down memory lane as we revisit some classic winter and snow-themed moments in Disney animation history. We’re sure you’ll like to get pumped by re-watching some of these old favorites again while you eagerly await Frozen and it’s winter wonderland.

10. Lady and the Tramp (1955)

The opening and closing scenes look just like a Christmas card, don’t they?

What we would give to live there...

9. 101 Dalmatians (1961)

You know, snow plays an important part in the puppies’ escape. So there you go:

Disney never could resist animating animals trying to walk on ice, could they?

8. Fantasia (1940)

There’s something so magical about a couple of winter fairies turning autumn into winter and freezing everything in their path…

7. Aladdin (1992)

When Jafar sends Aladdin off to a frozen wasteland, Aladdin must find a way back to Agrabah before it’s too late!

“Hold on, Abu; just two more weeks till Elsa’s curse is broken!”

6. Monsters, Inc. (2001)

Okay so we had to include at least one Pixar film. Who can forget the Abominable Snowman? Oh right. The Adorable Snowman!

Don't worry. It's lemon.

5. On Ice (1935)

This classic cartoon has it all- Mickey and the gang, skates and a frozen lake. Enough said.

4. Donald and Goofy in Polar Trappers (1938)

If you can ignore the fact that a duck is trying to catch a penguin for dinner, this is a pretty hilarious cartoon.

3. Mulan (1998)

This awesome. heart-pounding battle sequence from Mulan is actually one of the most incredibly animated scenes ever. “They popped out of the snow! Like daisies!”

2. Beauty and the Beast (1991)

in this charming musical sequence, Belle and the Beast realize that there may be something there that wasn’t there before. Of course a snowball fight is in order.

 1. Bambi (1942)

In this perennial Disney moment, little Bambi discovers the wonders of winter, as his rabbit pal Thumper tells him “The water’s stiff!”

Maybe Frozen was greenlit just for the excuse of animating another hooved animal try and walk across ice.

With the release of Frozen this Thanksgiving, it looks like every previous snow-themed animated scene is about to be trumped! Catch the blizzard November 27!
