Disney Bestows ‘Frozen’ Directing Credit to ‘Wreck-It Ralph’ Writer Jennifer Lee

Disney’s Frozen is less than one year from release, but that hasn’t stopped the Mouse House from adding a new director to the project. Jennifer Lee, screenwriter for the recent megahit Wreck-It Ralph, will be co-directing the film with the current director Chris Buck. However, unlike Brenda Chapman getting replaced (and subsequently given a co-director credit) by Mark Andrews for Pixar’s Brave, Lee will not be replacing Buck. She actually had worked on a rewrite of the script. According to the Frozen’s producer Peter Del Vecho:

“Jenn has a real connection to the film and creates dynamic and relatable characters. Her sense of comedy, adventure and story structure paired with Chris Buck’s vast experience and incredible instincts create an ideal situation for this film.”

It seems that Lee is a perfect fit for the co-director’s gig, having already contributed significantly to retooling the script. Her knowledge and passion for the characters and story will definitely help during this final year ramping up to the release. If her work on Wreck-It Ralph is any indication of the potential for Frozen, things look good for the future of Walt Disney Animation Studios.
