As some of you may know, I am a huge supporter of fan art, and more specifically of Mondo which is a small art based company that specializes in special limited edition poster prints, and more recently vinyl records among many other things. This past March Mondo did an art show of posters and prints in collaboration with Oh My Disney called Nothing’s Impossible which included beautiful prints of The Incredibles, Alice in Wonderland, Fantasia, and The Sword in the Stone among many others.
This September Mondo will be hosting their very first ever Con, appropriately dubbed MondoCon, to coincide with the first weekend of Fantastic Fest the largest film based con in the US. At MondoCon you can expect a wonderful variety of panels, screenings, but most importantly a carefully curated mini-gallery exhibition which will focus on one of animation’s most beloved films: The Iron Giant.

Not only will this 15 year anniversary mini-exhibition include prints and artwork from comic book artist Alex Ross, but it will also include the release of the soundtrack on vinyl for the first time.
I’m sure these two items, the vinyl and the limited edition print by Alex Ross are more then enough reason to head down to Austin, TX for MondoCon on September 20th and 21st. Personally, I would get in line as early as possible for a copy of that limited edition vinyl considering there will only be 1000 prints, but getting to see what the rest of the artists have cooked up would also be an amazing treat.
