In honor of International Dog Day, Disney has given us our official first look at their next animated short, Feast.
In a USA Today exclusive, we meet Winston, the adorable Boston Terrier who will steal our hearts this November in theaters with Big Hero 6. Feast tells the story of the pup, Winston, who befriends a human and forms a close relationship with his owner.
Director Patrick Osborne had a few words to share about the exciting new short:
“Every relationship has something that starts it off, and in this case it’s food. I wanted to tell a life story of a man and the dog under the table through the meals they share. It becomes this story of love between a dog and owner.”
The six minute short takes us through a long period in the life of Winston and his owner, as they share meals. Winston, a stray, first meets his owner over a french fry. Over the course of the short, a woman enters Winston’s owner’s life, so naturally, nachos and spaghetti turn to Brussels sprouts and hummus. Later, Winston also decides to take matters into his own hands – er, paws, as he makes a sacrifice.
From the first pictures, we have to say we are very excited. Feast has been created using the Paperman-style of 2D/CGI hybrid animation, only this time, we get to see this technique refined and in color. It also seems certain that Winston is going to make a lot of people go “aww” this November.
