We also get our first look at the Marvel live-action film Guardians of the Galaxy, a new superhero franchise set in space. The photo in the preview is from footage shown to fans last year at the D23 Expo and San Diego Comic-Con.

I hope that The Wind Rises will get a wider release. It would be great for a wider release for a studio Ghibli movie. Plus with no Pixar movie for 2014 that would be a great opportunity. I am also interested in the movie version of Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good Very Bad Day that was one of my favorite childhood books.

Into the Woods might top list. With an all-star cast and the fact that it’s a live action musical gets me pretty stoked. (Not to mention I was in the junior version of Into the Woods when I was a kid!) Also looking forward to Big Hero 6 (of course), Maleficent, and The Muppets. It looks like Disney is about the have a phenomenal year with this lineup! Looking forward to it!

  • Brandon Kelly

Angelina Jolie as Maleficent, heck yes! Big Hero 6 I am also excited for. If Wreck It Ralph can do well as a contemporary Disney classic, so can this. The Muppets of course, always loved them. Marvel Studios films are always on my radar. Question though, what’s with the dream works? That has nothing to do with Disney. Unless they are Touchstone Picture films then maybe.

    • Fadi Antwan

This slate is not only for movies produced by Disney, but for all movies getting distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, which includes movies by other companies. Dreamworks needs a distributor because it only makes the movies while Disney both produces and distributes.

      • Brandon Kelly

Oh ok, got it. Thanks for the info. Oh forgot to mention that I am also excited for Into the Woods. If done right, this could be a really great musical film.

        • Fadi Antwan

It’s my most anticipated movies of the year 🙂

I was just thinking of something. I don’t know if the Rotoscopers heard about Meryl’s mean comments about Walt Disney, but I think Into the Woods will be her first and last Disney movie after what she said about the man who started it all.

          • Fadi Antwan

My respect for her went down after these comments. How dare her talk in such a way about a departed man who brought so much happiness to so many. Besides, he lived in a different time period, so she had no right to call him a bigot.

          • Brandon Kelly

Agreed. She is a very good actress but her comments were not welcomed nor appropriate. I think she probably never heard of Mary Blair (A woman who worked for Disney). Plus, the poor man and his family are gone, can’t defend themselves. Have some respect Meryl!

Only interested in Big Hero 6 and The Wind Rises – and I want to say Muppets Most Wanted, but it’s more that I just desperately pray that it will be good. Couldn’t care less about the others, except for Into the Woods, which is going to be an absolute train-wreck for me.

  • Braden

Big Hero 6, Maleficent and the Muppets Most Wanted! I am sort of interested in, Into the Woods.

  • Aliscen Khaw

excited for big hero 6 and Maleficent! XD i’m curious about into the woods, but we shall see.

  • I’m most looking forward to “Big Hero 6”. The live-action one that I’m looking forward to most is “Into The Woods”.

“Million Dollar Arm” is also interesting, since I come from a culture that plays cricket.

I feel that “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” is unnecessary and will go the route of “The Odd Life of Timothy Green”.

  • Quigley Quagmire

If I had to state 3, those would be The Wind Rises, Captain America 2 and Maleficent

can anyone explain to me the difference between the Walt Disney Animation Studios and the Walt Disney Studios? is it that the animation studios make animated canon films, whereas walt Disney studios make live-action and non-canon animated films?

    • Fadi Antwan

Walt Disney Studios is the “family” that includes Walt Disney Animation Studios, Walt Disney Pictures (live-action films), Pixar, Disneynature, Lucasfilm, and DisneyToon Studios.

      • tt

        oh thanks

Wow, I love this year’s lineup! The Marvel movies seem very different and interesting, especially Big Hero 6. Into the Woods looks exciting too and I would have been equally excited for Maleficent if I hadn’t been disappointed by 2010’s Alice in Wonderland and last year’s Oz. And I think it’s cool Disney has two movies featuring different aspects of Indian culture, sports and food respectively, in The Million Dollar Arm and The Hundred-Foot Journey.
