After months of teases, with just brief glimpses of the artwork and a video featuring just the voice actors, Disney XD has finally released a proper trailer for their upcoming reboot of DuckTales, with a full minute and a half of animation!
Not only that, but they have already ordered a second season! This order comes well in advance of the show’s summer premiere, which shows tremendous confidence in a show that we still know very little about!
Marc Buhaj, Senior Vice President of Programming and General Manager of Disney XD, is already singing the show’s praises saying, “Fans around the world are eager and we’re looking forward to introducing viewers to the all-new DuckTales. This early season two order is a testament to the quality work the creative team, led by Matt and Frank, and the cast are delivering.”
You can watch the trailer here!
As you can see, we get a great look at all our main characters and we can finally see how their voices work in character. I for one loved everyone, but the standout for me, of course, was David Tennant as Scrooge McDuck. As a long-time fan of Doctor Who I could be biased, but I really think he makes for a great Scrooge and it’s so much fun to hear his voice again.
In addition to the great voice work, I am also loving the art. I don’t know if this is hand drawn animation or if they’re using a program like flash, but, however they’re creating it, everything feels very hand-drawn. It all looks just a bit sketchy, like drawings, but not too much so, and it just gives the show a very distinct look. I love everything about the artwork, and the animation just looks great.
DuckTales is set to arrive sometime this summer on Disney XD, with no official premiere date set yet.
What do you think of this news? What did you think of the trailer, and how do you feel about the voices?
