A couple of weeks ago, we alerted you to the possibility of there being a live action Kiki’s Delivery Service — and that rumor has been CONFIRMED.
Takashi Shimizu (The Grudge) is slated to direct the film, but what is interesting is that it won’t necessarily be a true translation of Hayao Miyazaki’s version. Instead it will be based on the original book series authored by Eiko Kaodono. Which makes sense because we’ve known Studio Ghibli to be incredibly strict about their story licensing.
So, this may not be the greatest Studio Ghibli news ever, but it will still be interesting to see someone else’s interpretation of the story.
Kiki will be played by 16 year-old figure skater Fuka Koshiba.
