Much has been made of Pixar’s ongoing mission to get back on track, an important part of it being its promise to deliver a more even mix of original films and franchise installments. And depending on how well Inside Out and The Good Dinosaur preform with audiences, the development of a sequel to one of its beloved films may well be good news. In this case, that film is Finding Dory.

While it doesn’t arrive in theaters until 2016, Pixar seems mighty confidant in making its return trip back to the world that audiences fell in love with 11 years ago with Finding Nemo.

Screen Rant has reported that Idris Elba and Dominic West will be lending their voice talents to the upcoming film. They join Ellen DeGeneres, Albert Brooks, Vicki Lewis, and William Dafoe, who will be reprising their roles as Dory, Marlin, Deb, and Gill, respectively. Rounding out the cast are Eugene Levy and Diane Keaton, who voice Dory’s parents; Ty Burrell, who voices Bailey, a Begula whale, and Kaitlin Olson, who voices a killer whale who happens to be Dory’s adopted sister.

Interestingly enough, it was Dominic West who originally revealed this news exclusively to Shortlist.com. While he didn’t reveal exactly what roles they would be playing, he did reveal that they are in the midst of recording:

“I saw Idris recently. We’re both in the sequel to Finding Nemo, so we were recording that. I’m in pretty regular contact with a lot of guys from The Wire – a lot of them are godparents to my kids, so I love them dearly.”

As of current, there is no news as to whether or not Nemo will appear in the sequel. If he does, he may get recast (his voice actor is now 20, and Finding Dory only picks up a year after Finding Nemo).

Finding Dory lands in theaters on June 17, 2016.

What are your thoughts? How excited are you for a Pixar sequel?
