Not only has Studio Ghibli officially confirmed the the titles of two films it will release in 2013, but it also revealed that these two films will be release on the same day.

The two films are The Wind is Rising (Kaze Tachinu) and The Tale of Princess Kaguya (Kaguya-hime no Monogatari) with Hayao Miyazaki directing the former and Isao Takahata directing the latter.

This isn’t the first time the studio has released two films in one day. Twenty-five years ago, Studio Ghibli released My Neighbor Totoro and Grave of the Fireflies on the same day in 1988.

Turns out, The Wind Rises is the film about iconic Mitsubishi A6M Zero Japanese WWII fighter plane and its creator Horikoshi. The Tale of Princess Kaguya is based on a Japanese folktale about a princess discovered growing inside a bamboo plant.

The subject matter and design of these films are very different, yet very fittingly Studio Ghibli. Check out the movie posters below!
