Fans were treated to a surprise guest at the Star Wars: Rebels panel at WonderCon in Anaheim on Saturday. Composer Kevin Kiner came on stage for the second half of the panel and revealed that he would be returning to Lucasfilm to compose the musical score for Rebels.

Kiner, who also composed the score for Lucasfilm’s The Clone Wars animated series, says he’s excited to be working on Star Wars yet again. This time around, he’ll be digging deep into John Williams’ score for the 1977’s original Star Wars. “I’m using a lot more of John’s themes, but more importantly I’m using the little motifs he had,” says Kiner.
Star Wars: Rebels premiers on Disney Channel this fall with a one-hour special, followed by a regular series on Disney XD.
