Ralph’s getting an upgrade from 8-bit to gigabit as he and Vanellope journey to the Internet in Ralph Breaks the Internet. The sequel to the Disney’s 2012 animated film Wreck-It Ralph, this film explores Ralph and Vanellope’s relationship more, encountering a wide world of new characters (and princesses) along the way.
The film’s good, but are the Ralph Breaks the Internet Blu-ray features worth emailing home about?

The Ralph Breaks the Internet Blu-ray release has fairly standard bonus material, as if Disney just phoned it in. It feels like Disney knows that bonus features are a must for home releases, but weren’t a priority for this release. Hopefully they get their act together for the release of Frozen 2.
- How We Broke the Internet (32:57) – This half-hour featurette is composed of 10 subsections, which you can also watch in their bite-size segments. From exploring Netizens and Net Users to Knowsmore, Oh My Disney, and more, you will deep dive into the making of the Ralph Breaks the Internet, direct from the filmmakers themselves. Each segment has a quick intro where filmmakers pretend to be swiping apps across the screen. It’s cute the first time, but gets old and feels like filler after the first few times.
- Surfing for Easter Eggs (3:36) – Narrated by a nameless host, this gives us a look at the countless Easter Eggs found throughout the movie. Some of these are obvious, while many are incredibly obscure and would only be discovered by the keenest eyed Disney fan.
- The Music of Ralph Breaks the Internet (10:18) – Probably one of the best featurettes, as we see the wide variety of musical talent involved in personifying and giving the Internet its distinct sound. Composer Henry Jackman talks through working with Imagine Dragons, Julia Michaels, Alan Menken, Sarah Silverman and more.
- Deleted Scenes – Directors Rich Moore and Phil Johnston preface each of the five deleted scenes, giving insight as to why they liked the scene and why it ultimately was cut from the final film. Scenes include Into the Internet, Opposites, Domestic Hell, Bubble of One & Recruiting “Grandma.”
- BuzzzTube Cats (1:47) – When you make a movie about the Internet, you need to fill it with lots and lots of cat videos. This featurette is nearly two minutes of the animators’ take on this Internet video staple. Meow!
- Music Videos – Bonus feature fodder: music videos of the songs from the film. Here we get “Zero” by Imagine Dragons and “In This Place” by Julia Michaels.
- Baby Drivers – Slaughter Racing School (Digital exclusive, 2:14) – Watch the animators take the wheel in driving school to learn exactly what it takes to drive like a racecar driver.
Final Thoughts
While Ralph Breaks the Internet doesn’t live up to the greatness of the original film and the bonus features aren’t anything to write home about, it’s still a fun romp that’s worth the watch.
