The long-awaited, epic finale to Cartoon Network’s beloved show Adventure Time finally aired this week, and the final seasons DVD is available to own now! If you missed the incredible finale, then you owe it to yourself to get this DVD, because it is chock full of three seasons worth of episodes that Adventure Time fans are not going to want to miss!

I’m not going to talk about the finale here, as much as I want to gush about how great it was, because if you haven’t seen it yet, you need to go in unspoiled. It was so incredible, I would hate to deprive anyone of that experience. That being said, I’m totally going to fill you in on everything this DVD has to offer, because it is a must own for fans of the series.

The Set

This set, unlike the previous seven seasons worth of sets, actually contains the last three seasons of the show. This is likely due to the fact that the final three seasons, especially the last two, were significantly shorter than the ones that came before. All in all you are getting all 53 regular episodes, as well as the hour-long series finale. And this includes both of the amazing miniseries’ that aired during these seasons, Islands, and Elements.

Extras

The extras included in this set are a bit basic, but still welcome. The only thing that did not appear to be included was the special Minecraft themed episode, Diamonds and Lemons that aired in July. It is possible that I missed it, but it was something I was kind of expecting, and was a bit disappointed to find missing. I’m thinking they may be saving it for a future Blu-ray release.

Animatics

Just what you would expect these to be. Several episode storyboards are featured here, including Normal Man, Five Short Tables, Wheels, Winter Light, Hero Heart, Abstract, Bonnibel Bubblegum, & Temple of Mars.

Character Art Gallery

I expected a gallery you could peruse with your remote, but this is actually a slideshow, complete with interesting and entertaining notes! This turned out to be even more interesting than I was expecting!

Song Demos

Again, just what you’d expect from the title, these are demos of a few songs featured throughout these seasons. These songs include: Flower Song, Hot Dog Song, Neptr Flame P Rap, & Evolution.

Adventure Time Yearbook

This is probably one of the most substantial bonus features for those who like looking behind the scenes of their favorite shows. This is a look back at the show, with interviews from several key players behind Adventure Time.

Final Thoughts

For fans of Adventure Time, these final three seasons are an absolute must-own. That being said, it is a bit disappointing that this is only being released on DVD. I know I’m not the only one who would have preferred this on Blu-ray, however, as this set is an incredible bargain, I can’t complain too much. I am happy to own them however they are released.

Despite my very minor complaints, I loved this set, because the main point of any set is to own the episodes themselves, and there are so many amazing ones in these last few seasons. If you’re an Adventure Time fan, I highly recommend this set.

What were your thoughts on the Adventure Time finale?
Will you be picking up a copy of this set?
