Nightmare-Before-Christmas

The Hollywood Bowl is getting frightfully merry. According to the press release today, this Halloween season, Disney Concerts will present a special screening of The Nightmare Before Christmas accompanied by a live orchestra, choir, and original voice talent performing the film’s beloved score and songs.

Continuing a tradition that began in 2015 and encored in 2016, the Los Angeles venue will host the event once more October 26 and 27 this year. Music will be conducted by John Mauceri, founding Director of the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra. Making special appearances will be Danny Elfman as the singing voice of Jack Skellington, Catherine O’Hara as Sally, and Ken Page as Oogie Boogie. It’s sure to be an incredible night for fans, and the ultimate way to celebrate the film’s 25th anniversary this year, having first released October 13, 1993.

Accentuating the film will be elaborate projection mapping that uses the Hollywood Bowl itself as its canvas. The projections, developed by creative studio Mousetrappe, will add another layer of art to this multi-sensory experience.

Guests are encouraged to come in costume and trick-or-treat prior to the screening.

In addition to the previous performances of this same event, the Hollywood Bowl also in recent years hosted a special Little Mermaid concert and an unprecedented live Muppet Show. Disney Concerts currently has separate touring orchestra live-to-film concerts celebrating Pixar and Star Wars.

“Halloween at the Bowl – Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas – In Concert To Film” will perform October 26 and 27, 2018, at 8:00 p.m. Tickets go on sale September 8th at 10:00 a.m. PST via Ticketmaster. There is a pre-sale for American Express cardholders, starting September 5th.

Are you a Nightmare Before Christmas fan? Wish the movie a happy 25th anniversary in the comments!
