Popular Aardman characters from Wallace & Gromit to Shaun the Sheep will be on display at the Art Ludique-Le Musée in Paris from 21 March until 30 August 2015.
The exhibit – cleverly titled “Art That Takes Shape”– will be jam-packed with more than 60 animated shorts and feature films, and over 50 of Aardman’s character sculptures and film sets that will be lit by the artists themselves. Some of the characters and sets that will be included are Wallace and Gromit with their vegetable garden, the pirate clan and their ship from the 2012 feature film The Pirates! Band of Misfits and the chickens and their flying machine from the 2000 hit film Chicken Run.
Concept art from the studio will also be displayed with over 350 drawings of characters and storyboards. You’ll even be able to take a look at the student sketchbook from Aardman’s most famous director and animator Nick Park. This sketchbook contains the very first drawings of his creations Wallace and Gromit that has never before been seen by the public.
The museum’s past exhibitions have previously included the art of studio Ghibli, the art of Marvel Superheroes and the art of Pixar which have all been incredibly well-received. So if you happen to be passing Paris this month it seems this Aardman exhibit is not to be missed! More information about the museum and the exhibit can her found here.
