New ‘Frozen Fever’ Poster Revealed + All-New Plot Details!

As we inch closer to the release of the animated short Frozen Fever (let’s get real, it’s the main reason most people will be going to watch Disney’s Cinderella), Disney has unveiled a glorious new promotional poster and revealed details of interesting story tidbits!

Isn’t the poster great? For one, the level of detail in the characters’ dresses is astonishing. Elsa actually has little pink flowers in her hair now (a change from her usual snowflakes). And, yes, you may notice a lot of little mini snowmen. Fun fact, they’re called “snowgies” (yes, they already have their own Wiki page). Apparently, Elsa gets a seasonal cold, and every time she sneezes, a ton of these mini “snowgies” form.

According to Frozen Fever producer Peter Del Vecho, the “snowgies” started out as “Mini-Olafs”:

“We realized we wanted Olaf to remain pure, so quickly it evolved into these fun little snowballs we call ‘snowgies’ that bring a lot of mischief and fun to the short.”
For more juicy deets, the team revealed that the short was originally supposed to center around Olaf. But, Frozen co-director Jennifer Lee had the idea of Elsa getting a magical cold. Soon, the story evolved into a birthday celebration for Anna, and Elsa’s attempts to make it perfect while also handling a cold. Frozen co-director Chris Buck explains:

“We could see some different opportunities for some fun and that just got all of us going…Elsa’s never really been able to throw a party for Anna. They were apart most of their growing up.”

Frozen Fever reunites most of the original cast of Frozen: Kristen Bell as Anna, Idina Menzel as Elsa, Josh Gad as Olaf, and Jonathan Groff as Kristoff. Featuring a new song by original composers Robert and Kristen-Anderson Lopez, the short hits theaters alongside Cinderella this Friday.

Will you see Frozen Fever and Cinderella?  What do you think of Elsa’s “snowgies”?
