It’s 2015! We hope you guys have had a wonderful New Year’s celebration. Now, if you’re a LAIKA fan and you happen to live anywhere in the Los Angeles area, than Focus Features has a special little event that should serve to kick off your new year just right.
Focus Features is teaming up with CalArts to sponsor an afternoon screening of LAIKA’s first three films on Sunday, January 4th. The screenings will be held at the Silver Screen Theater (located at the Pacific Design Center) on 8687 Melrose Ave in West Hollywood (directions can be found here).
The screenings will run all afternoon and are scheduled as follows:
- Coraline at 12:00 PM
- ParaNorman at 2:00 PM
- The Boxtrolls at 4:00 PM
A Q&A with the filmmakers of The Boxtrolls (along with special guests) will take place right after the screenings. Tickets are currently available by emailing the addresses listed in the image down below:
As the fine print states, the invitation is non-transferable and is meant solely for you and members of your family. Also, do arrive at least 30 minutes early, as screenings are overbooked to compensate for no-shows. RSVPs do not guarantee seating and the seating itself is limited and on a first-come, first-serve basis. No one will be admitted without their name on the list, or after the film has begun.
And to top that all off, parking and admission are free.
On a final note: for those planning to attend, I would definitely stay for the Q&A if I were you, as it would provide an ample opportunity to ask questions about LAIKA’s next feature, Kubo and the Two Strings.
Again, seating is limited on a first-come, first-serve basis and if you plan to attend, you have three days left to purchase tickets!
What do you think? If you’re in the Los Angeles area, will you attend this event?
