‘Beetlejuice 2’ Confirmed by Tim Burton

Rumor has been circulating for a while about the possibility of a sequel to the 1988 quirky comedy horror Beetlejuice, and now the film’s director Tim Burton himself confirmed in an interview with MTV that a sequel to Beetlejuice is definitely in the works.

Burton revealed that he would be the director, and that he would love to work with Winona Ryder again to reprise her roll as the misunderstood Gothic teenager Lydia. It looks as if Michael Keaton will also reprising his role too as the title character. Keaton expressed in an interview with MTV earlier this year that, “I always said that’s the one thing I’d like to do again, if I ever did anything again. But it kind of required Tim to be involved some way or another.”

It will be interesting to uncover the look of the film as it goes into production, and whether it will use stop-motion effects in the same way as the first film, or if it will use more recent computer-generated technology as with Burton’s recent works like Alice in Wonderland.
