NYCC Day 1: ‘Big Hero 6’ and ‘Tomorrowland’ Panels Bring Us Teaser Trailer, Poster & New Sizzle Reel

We’ve only been at NYCC for a few hours and the bombshells have already dropped. After hours of waiting in line we were rewarded with several clips from Big Hero 6, a much longed for teaser trailer for Tomorrowland plus a whole clip that included a small chase.

Big Hero 6

But first here is the fresh clip from Big Hero 6. Proceed with caution as there may be some SPOILERS among these words:

Along with this clip (which includes an all-new song from Fall Out Boy called “Immortals”), we also had a few more clips that went into both the story and characters. One of the never before seen clips introduces us to the gang: Wasabi, Go Go, Honey Lemon, Fred. Hiro visits the tech lab at university where his brother Tadashi works and meets the crew. Instantly we see the type of projects that inspire each character: Go Go has a need for speed, Wasabi is all about precision, Honey Lemon, is all about quirk, and Tadashi, is about helping the greater good. And that is when we meet Baymax. And Baymax inspires Hiro to evolve his tech genius for the betterment of others…or so we are lead to believe.

A few more things we learned:

Tomorrowland

Tomorrowland was definitely the part of the panel filled with the biggest surprises, mostly because so much of the film has been kept in the dark for so long. Brad Bird himself couldn’t help but joke about what little information they’d be giving us throughout the panel. So to be clear: in the 30 minutes or so that we spent talking about Tomorrowland all we got was the teaser trailer, the extended never-before-seen clip, and…that’s about it. Which to be honest was pretty awesome because everything we saw had NEVER been seen.

You can see for yourself that the trailer is very different from what you would expect from Brad Bird, in a very exciting way. The extended clip that we saw in the panel was even more so surprising and exciting. It followed Casey who has tracked down Frank Walker (George Clooney) to his home and is looking for his help in order to get to Tomorrowland. Of course, he refuses, only to be tricked out of his fortress of a home, Casey sneaks in and confronts Walker attempting to convince him. In the middle of Casey trying to convince him to show her the way to Tomorrowland, police-bots come for Casey, to Walker’s surprise she’s a fugitive! And the scene that follows is the two of them trying to evade police within Walker’s home using all of the hidden gadgets and booby traps of a higher technological design that Walker has planted there.

Here are also a few more things we learned at the panel:

Considering much of the film is still under wraps, what we got today in terms of swag and clips is pretty astounding. If anyone was apprehensive about Brad Bird as a live action director, they needn’t fret.

By the way, the teaser poster was also released, which you can check out below.

Disney at NYCC Photos

[UDPATE 4:13 PM PST] Since no cameras or electronic devices were allowed in the panel, we weren’t able to get any pictures of the cast and crew who were in attendance at the Big Hero 6 and Tomorrowland panels.

But Disney released some official photos from New York Comic Con, which you can find below.
