Not long after the recent update on their remake of Pete’s Dragon, Disney has picked up a script for a fantasy film titled In The Land of Imagined Things.

The script is written by Joe Henderson, who previously hailed from the world of TV (he was the writer and executive producer on Almost Human, White Collar, and Graceland). Charlie Bean, who’s set to make his directorial debut with the LEGO movie Ninjago, has been set to direct. Charlie Bean also comes from the world of TV (the animated side of TV, to be exact), as he was a storyboard artist for The Powerpuff Girls and Dexter’s Laboratory and directed episodes for Robotboy and Tron: Uprising.

No plot details have been revealed at the moment, but the general mindset seems to be that this will be a Live-Action/CG hybrid.

Justin Springer (Tron: Legacy, Oblivion) will produce the project, with Louie Provost overseeing for the studio.

While we have yet to see how he fares on the big screen (Ninjago arrives in 2016), Charlie’s work on Tron: Uprising demonstrates his impressive visual styling and a masterful eye for fast-paced action. As such, he is the perfect choice for something like Ninjago, one of the more action-oriented properties in LEGO’s library. He also joins the long list of directors who have made their careers in animation only to shift into doing live-action, assuming that he starts work on In The Land of Imagined Things right after he finishes Ninjago.

What do you think? Are you looking forward to any of the newcomer’s feature-length efforts?
