DreamWorks Animation is in the middle of celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. So far the studio has released The Art of DreamWorks Animation, an art book featuring 20 years of DreamWorks concept art, and opened an exhibition in Melbourne, giving patrons a behind-the-scenes look at how films are made at DreamWorks. The celebration continues with the DreamWorks in Concert, a live symphony concert featuring music from DreamWorks’ most beloved films.

DreamWorks in Concert will take place July 18 and 19 in LA. The concert will include live performances of DreamWorks’ scores composed by award-winning composers Hans Zimmer (Madagascar), John Powell (How to Train Your Dragon), Alan Silvestri (The Croods) and Danny Elfman (Mr. Peabody & Sherman). It will also highlight guest composers Harry Gregson-Williams (Shrek) and Alexandre Desplat (Rise of the Guardians). Singer Judith Hill will also sing “When You Believe” from The Prince of Egypt live on stage with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra. To top it all off, the evening will end with a spectacular fireworks show.

Both shows will be hosted by Jack Black aka the voice of Po from Kung Fu Panda and Kung Fu Panda 2.

“I cannot think of a more fitting place to celebrate our 20th Anniversary than the legendary Hollywood Bowl, together with our partners at the LA Phil, we have put together a truly celebratory evening for families and fans of all ages that will not only bring the stunning music of our composers to life on stage, but will hopefully have everyone laughing out loud and maybe even singing along.” said DreamWorks Animation Chief Creative Officer Bill Damaschk.

DreamWorks Animation in Concert – Celebrating 20 Years will take place July 18 and 19; tickets start at $28. More information on the concert and tickets can be found here.

What do you think of the DreamWorks in Concert? If you live in LA, will you be attending?
