Sony Pictures Animation recently refreshed the content on its website and provided a little info about a little-known film that’s in production: Kazorn & The Unicorn.
There has been little news about this film expect for other a year ago when it was reported that Gnomeo & Juliet director, Kelly Asbury, was in negotiations to direct Kazorn & The Unicorn. With Sony Pictures Animation updating its website, this further confirms that the film is still in production and is something we’ll most likely see in theatres in a few years. While not new news, per say, this is a film that we have yet to report on here. No photos, logos, or much info is given about Kazorn & The Unicorn, except a little synopsis, “A barbarian and a unicorn team up on a quest to save the world.” Ooo, sounds exciting. Two new sections were also added to the “About” tabs. The former “People” tab has been broken down into “Executives” and “Filmmakers.” Kelly Asbury is featured on the filmmakers page and it says he is currently developing two feature film projects. Before Kazorn & The Unicorn was on the radar, he was supposedly working on a film for Sony called Pooch Café; however, that film isn’t listed on their upcoming slate or its unclear what is the other film he’s developing.
The website was also updated with other titles Sony is currently working on, including Popeye, Untitled Smurfs Movie (AKA Smurfs 3), and Hotel Transylvania 2. Kazorn & The Unicorn will also be co-directed by Troy Quane, with Russell Hollander, Sam Raimi, and Josh Donen producing. There is no official release date yet, but it is rumored to hit theatres sometime in 2015.
