Originally developed as Happy Smekday! and based off Adam Rex’s book The True Meaning of Smekday, the film’s premise is that of an alien race who invades Earth with the intention of restructuring life on the planet.  The film follows the lead female (voiced of Rihanna) who manages to escape the extraterrestrials and joins forces with one alien (voice of Jim Parsons) as they set out on a “post-apocalyptic road trip.”

Jennifer Lopez will play the lead girl’s mother, while Steve Martin will play the leader of the alien race, Captain Smek.  Home will be directed by Tim Johnson (Antz, Over the Hedge); Tom J. Astle and Matt Ember will write the screenplay.
