Troll-DollsBack in April, DreamWorks Animation announced that a movie will be released in 2016 based on our favorite bejewled, big-haired toys. At the time of the announcement, very little information was known about the Trolls movie. Now, it was released that Mike Mitchell will in fact, direct the Trolls movie, with Erica Rivinoja taking the helm for writing.

Mitchell has been known to direct films for family before. He is best known for his his work in directing Shrek Forever After, Sky High, and Alvin and the Chipmunks 2: Chipwrecked. Currently, he is directing live-action sequences for The Spongebob Squarepants Movie 2.

Rivinoja is an Emmy Award winning writer, known for her work in South Park and Up all Night.

“Mike and Erica are the perfect team to reimagine this film,” said Chief Creative Officer Bill Damaschke. “Mike’s pedigree in shaping stories with already beloved characters is second to none, and Erica’s amazing sense of comedy will introduce the Trolls to a new generation of fans while keeping the spirit and appeal audiences have loved for years.”

Hopefully these two can become a dream team and launch our favorite two-inch tall monsters to new heights.

Gina Shay (Shrek Forever After) will be producing the film, which is supposed to be a musical comedy telling the story of how the Trolls got their vibrant hair.

The film will be distributed by Twentieth Century Fox and will be released on November 4th, 2016.

Some of her all-time favorite films include Mulan, The LEGO Movie, Up, Tangled, and The Lion King. She also collects old Peanuts comic strips, and spends her free time reading, writing for the Rotoscopers, and working a variety of jobs. You can follow Alissa on Instagram and Twitter: @ThisAlissa.
