Big Screen Animation reports that composer Michael Giacchino (The Incredibles, Ratatouille) claimed to be working on a “secret Pixar project” during an interview in Switzerland. He said he’s working on a ‘Pixar thing, a project that hasn’t been spoken of yet’.
We know Thomas Newman is scoring The Good Dinosaur, so maybe Giacchino is referring to Pete Docter’s Inside Out, although that’s not a secret project at all. The Star Trek Into Darkness composer didn’t specify if it was a feature film or a short film. His work for La Luna was absolutely beautiful so either way, we’ll get a great score.
Giacchino did, however, confirm he was scoring Animation-God Brad Bird’s Tomorrowland (2014) and who knows if he’ll be chosen to inherit John Williams’s job as composer to a little indie movie called Star Wars: Episode VII (2015). It’d be interesting that if Giacchino does score Inside Out and Episode VII, both projects will share a composer as well as a screenwriter (Toy Story 3′s Michael Arndt).
Are you excited to hear of Giacchino’s return to Pixar?
