New ‘Monsters University’ Poster Unveiled

Pixar-Monsters-University-PosterToday Pixar revealed the official theatrical poster for Monsters University, hitting theaters June 21. The film has been getting quite a bit of publicity over the past few weeks, with highlights including a new trailer, a film clip, character bios, and a significant presence at New York’s Toy Fair.

The poster, bursting with colorful monsters, has echoes of past Pixar posters like Cars and Toy Story 3, which also filled their borders with the films’ whole casts. There’s a lot to look at, from characters we got a sneak peek of in last week’s student profiles to familiar faces from the original Monsters, Inc. One of those (and a surprise for those who have only seen trailers and character bios) is George Sanderson, the orange-haired monster with the horn in the back.

A character who has yet to appear in promotional material, yet inevitably must be in the film, is the Abominable Snowman. John Ratzenberger voiced him in Monsters, Inc., and with Raztenberger having a role in every Pixar film to date, surely Pixar has a fun cameo in store for Abominable in Monsters University.

I smell some funny pantomime scenes ahead for the dog-pig-thing to the left of Mike.
