Saoirse-Ronan-Cinderella

Saoirse-Ronan-Cinderella[UPDATE 3/17/2013/5:51:20 am PST] According to Hypable, Saoirse Ronan has confirmed that she will be joining Emma Watson as another actress to  not play Cinderella. The news that she could possibly play our princess was just a rumor with no truth to it. Okay, what is up with everyone? Sign me up to be the next Cinderella!

Emma Watson, who will definitely play Belle in Guillermo del Torro’s Beauty and the Beast, has recently backed out of another princess roll, leaving the path open for Saoirse Ronan to be the frontrunner in Disney’s live-action film, Cinderella.

Cinderella is due to begin filming in London later this year and has a 2014 release, so Disney has to biddidi boddidi boo an actress soon for the lead role, and Saoirse would have the experience to play our beloved princess.

Saoirse has had roles in City of Ember, Atonement, and The Lovely Bones, and she appears most recently in The Host, to be released on March 29th.

Saoirse was in early talks to play Cinderella, and now it seems as though the only thing holding her back would be her busy schedule over the next year… She is supposed to star in How to Catch a Monster, How I Live Now, and The Grand Budapest Hotel (whew, busy!)

What do you think of Saoirse as Cinderella? Emma would have been awesome, but I mean, come on, getting to play two princesses? That just doesn’t sound fair!
