Coco tells the story of a Mexican boy named Miguel, who loves music even though it is forbidden and ends up in the Land of the Dead. The film is set for a November 22 release, but audiences recently got a sneak peak with the release of a new clip. Check it out below:
The clip further illustrates Miguel’s love and his family’s hatred for music, as well as shows off Miguel’s town, complete with colorful banners, cobblestone streets, and charming buildings. Such depictions are the products of in-depth research, which is the focus of a new featurette for the film. Take a look:
Disney and Pixar have conducted extensive studies for movies in the past, and, as seen in the featurette, it’s no different with Coco. An accurate portrayal of the Mexican community and their music is important to the film’s creative team, right down to the correct picking of a guitar string. For this studio power duo, every detail counts.
